I'm a fan of Minimalism. The combination of Minimalism and Gothic architecture made it so unique and beautiful to my eye.

Misty Forest

Sony a7ri II with 35mm lens

I hiked 5 hours in minor rain in a Vancouver forest to get this photo. I was totally soaked and almost destroyed my camera and shoes. It was crazy. But when I saw the photos I felt it was totally worth it.

The Edge

A lot of times, we are not prepared to shoot fancy photos with a SLR camera. But we should not let the beautiful moment go. Capture it with whatever media you have. For me the feelings of a photo is more important than the the tool that creates it.

Fly

I wanted to tell a story just by using lighting and shadows. Sometimes simple things can go a long way.

Song of Rain

iphone 7

There are some days I felt a lot. Even tiny things make me think. I took this photo when I felt there's nothing to day about a rainy day. But it turned out I was wrong. It is all about perspective after all.

Sometimes I enjoy mixing boring random photos together to form a new interesting image. This one was totally done with my iphone 7.

La Grande Arche

Sony a7ri II with 14 mm lens

It is hard to get such a gigantic thing into your frame without a very wide lens. The arche is actually a square, but I like how the lens recreated the shape in a dramatic way.

Structure

It is the roof of a bridge on Taihu Lake China. Taken at sunset of a foggy summer day.

Eiffel Tower

Sony a7ri II with 35 mm lens

In the Parc de Champ de Mars, nobody had payed much attention to this modern glass gate carved with the word "peace" in different languages. I found an interesting angle to frame old and new, modern and historical.

West Coast I

In the past few years I had visited the West Coast for couple times. It is one of the most beautiful places in my memory. The ocean showed me her different phases - grand and peaceful, or majestic and perilous.

Remember those windy summer days on the wild open beaches along the West Coast? Probably your favorite road trip songs lingering along in your bitter sweet far away memories.

West Coast III

Even this photo was taken with just a phone camera, it still didn't diminish the beauty of nature. Sometimes all that matter is the eye that sees it.

West Coast IV

When you see those giant rocks sit in the middle of the ocean, surrounded only by the mist and cusps of waves. For thousands of years, nothing had changed. Our loneliness means nothing...

Happiness

I like to use only light and shadows to tell the story, the contrast leads the focus of this image. I like the golden rim light on the girl.

Color of Fall I

Sony a7ri II with 50 mm Lens

When I took a walk with my camera, It was like walking with a soulmate. Because that those moment, I don't have to worry about time or plan or initiate any conversation. She knows me, follows me and sees the same thing that I see.

Color of Fall II

In Spring or Fall, if you walk in a Vancouver forest, it often ends up with small rain. Even though, the nature still has it's beauty to offer. Keep an open mind and breath it.

Beauty doesn't need rules or techniques. It only needs to resonate with your feelings at a particular moment.

Color of Fall IV

Sony a7ri II with 50 mm Lens

Walking in a leafless forest with the old rain of Fall is not very exciting. But if you open your heart and embrace everything that nature offers, you may start to see beautiful things.

Vancouver Island

Sony a7ri II with 35 mm Lens

I like the minimalism in this photo. It was originally wider framed with boats and other surroundings. I cropped it down to just show the contrast and composition I like. And use minimum elements to show the peace in it.

Nike of Samothrace

Sony a7ri II with 35 mm Lens

The Nike of Samothrace is one of the most unforgettable scene in the Louvre. It is not only because of this stunning masterpiece in the majestic arched hallway, but also the big crowd of admirers. Are they admiring the history? the art? or the victory in life ?

A Story

iphone 7

This is again a random discovery on a regular day. I was thinking everything carries it's story. It was unique and personal to the people who are related. but means nothing to others. However, if we try to imagine the story behind it, it starts become interesting. Things around us start to talk to us.

Bridge

This photo was taken with my phone inside the car when I was visiting my family in China few years ago. In the 90's it was one of the biggest cable bridge in China even in the world. And it still amazes me today.

Nothing I wanted to say from this photo, it's not a metaphor or anything. It's just about lighting. And I like it.

Banff National Park

iphone 7

I often wish that there is a way that we can capture the beauty that our eyes can see. If you love travel, you know what I mean. In order to record the beauty of this world in my mind in a lossless way, I have to go out and be there. Travel is so rewarding, it gives the most Dopamine to my eyes and heart among all the things.

These two photos below was taken in Banff National Park few years ago when I still didn't have a SLR camera. The view was obviously way more breath taking than what I can show you here. And this is also a reason that I want to revisit it.
